Depending on the model and brand of the printer you have, checking the levels of printer ink may change. In this blog, we are going to discuss how to inspect the levels of printer ink for the two major branded printers including Brother and HP. The blog covers ink-based printers only, not laser printers.
For Brother printers:
For Brother printers, ink level can be checked in two ways. It can be checked by running the monitor on the computer or by using the control panel on the printer directly. For Windows users, you have to use the following ways.
For Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Windows 10, you need to click Start and then click Brother. After that click Brother Utilities and then select the model name from the dropdown. Then choose Tools and select status monitor to continue.
For a Mac, you have to choose System Preferences and then select Print & Scan. After that, click the Options & Supplies and then choose Utility. Finally, select the Printer Utility. for accessing the ink status directly on the Brother printer, you have to press the Ink icon and select Ink Volume.
For HP printers:
If you have an HP printer, you can check the ink level through the printer or the computer.
For Windows 10 OS, the process of accessing the HP ink levels may depend on the model. One of the easiest ways is to open the HP Smart app first and then add the printer to view the level of inks properly on the home screen. Apart from that, you can also open the HP Print & Scan Doctor and then you have to select the printer & click Supply Levels. The user can also be able to access this process via HP Solution Centre software.
For the Mac machine, you have to click the Apple icon first and then go to the System Preferences. Now, you have to select the Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners option. After that choose the printer and click to check ink levels from the list. Then, select the Options & Supplies and click on Supplies.
On some models of HP printers, the user can check the level of ink on the control panel of the printer. This can be accessed either through the ink levels menu or the cartridge icon and ink drop icon.
Checking the printer ink levels of these branded printers is easy. All you need to do is follow the process properly and handle the printer components gently.
